These smiles are very special to me because it wasn’t me writing for people I may never see again. Throughout the week, we kept running into each other and on some days, we’d stop to hug, on other days, our eyes would do the talking and say, ‘I really hope you have a good day’. I understood that if it was possible, I had quickly fallen in love with each of them and how honest they were about their realities and how although they were striving through their process of healing, they weren’t trying to destroy everything in their way. Thank you for holding space for me like I will forever hold space for you.
There are many things I mean to do. For example, I can try and make you smile at the end of it all. While you talk to me, I'll probably notice when you smile the most and if it soon switches to a less curvy frown in a matter of minutes. Ill wonder who keeps you safe when Im not around and whether they are doing a good job at all. I'll make my careful assumptions on where your heart's at and tell you you can have mine in exchange. We'll share our love for the spontaneous little things that engulf our everyday sanity and Ill write you a poem to mark this day.
